Recently the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA)surveyed 420 kitchen and bath designers to find out what the most popular design trends are for 2014. It wont surprise you that homeowners are opting for more simple lines and a lot less ornamentation. They are more focused on good storage and space planning. Homeowners are using more neutral colors such as beige bone, and gray. The most popular appliances are gas cooktops, convections ovens, and microwave drawers.
The look and feel of the bathroom is also changing. Homeowners want bathrooms to be places they can retreat and relax. Freestanding tubs without jets to soak in are definitely at the top of the list. Designers are also seeing consumers opting for a more universal design, meaning they want bathrooms that work for everyone regardless of age or size and ability. Designers anticipate seeing more shower benches, comfort-height toilets and touch-activated faucets.
